Located in Chapel Hill, NC Blackman & Sloop, CPAs, P.A. is a single-office firm with approximately 45 full-time staff.  As a locally based accounting firm, we facilitate our clients' ambitions to expand throughout the Research Triangle area, state, and country, while still providing each client the personal time and attention on which we pride ourselves.

Job Description
As a tax manager, you will lead and manage all phases of business and individual client tax advisory and compliance engagements. You will be expected to manage clients independently and possess excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. You will perform technical reviews of corporate and individual returns, participate in training and supervision of staff, conduct tax research and advise on tax matters. Responsibilities:
  • Apply tax knowledge to preparation and/or technical review of complex individual and business returns.
  • Perform tax research with view for compliance and alternatives to satisfy client's objections
  • Prepare/analyze income tax notices for federal and state jurisdictions
  • Client management and participation in marketing/business development
  • Participation in recruitment and supervision of staff

Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of tax preparation experience
  • CPA/EA License
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivator with the ability to multi-task and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
  • A strong desire toward career advancement and goal toward future firm ownership.
  • Excellent work ethic and a sense of humor are a must!

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong background in C and S Corporations, LLCs, and Partnerships
  • Consultative/Advising Experience regarding entity structure, multi-state apportionment, and business combinations
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess Tax, CCH Engagement, and QuickBooks
